Hat tip to Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley.
A lot of these articles will focus on Korea, especially North Korea, because I’ve been studying and working on Korea-related issues since the early 90s, including 15 years living in Seoul. My academic background includes an MA in Korean Studies from Seoul National University, an MA in International Security from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, and a BA in Asian History from the University of Michigan.
My employment background includes serving as an Asia Analyst for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, a deployment to Baghdad with the U.S. Department of Defense, plus 15 years working on my own in Korea, including as a writer, business owner, and professor of Korean-English translation. Publications include a popular series of college textbooks in Korea, a travelogue on my time in North Korea, Iran, and Iraq, and an introduction to North Korean history, ideology, and culture through translations of the country’s propaganda paintings.
My writings on North Korea, Iran, and elsewhere have been featured in media from The Korea Times to The Wall Street Journal, Chicago NPR, Brazil’s Globo Network, USA Today, and other outlets around the world.
